Dinner was over. Richie and Lauren were both offered some italian ice (it’s something like ice cream, cold and sweet) for dessert.
Richie tore into his as we knew he would. :-)
Lauren took a few bites, gave a couple bites to me, then saw the bowl of beans on the stove. “Can I have those beans!?”
Um… yeah, I guess you can.
She didn’t touch the ice again. Just ate green beans until she’d had enough.
The funniest part, though, was Richie. He was one flabbergasted five year old. “What’s wrong with her, Opa? IS SHE CRAZY!?”
Maybe she is, a little, but I wouldn’t trade that crazy for anything.

8:41:48 AM, she’s sad because I asked her to stay on the steps (so I could take some pictures) instead of letting her come down with me.
Stage 2: Hint of Hopeful
8:41:49 AM (1 second later), she’s looking slightly hopeful. Corinne (Oma) was there too, and had told her I wasn’t leaving, just taking some pictures.
She still looks a little sad, but compare it with the previous shot and you’ll see what I mean.
Stage 3: Silly.
8:41:54 AM, a whole five or six seconds have passed. The cloud has blown over, her sun is coming out again…
Stage 4: Dance of Joy
8:41:55 AM, she’s gone past silly all the way to dancing. You can’t really tell here, I guess, but go back and forth between this and the next one.

8:41:56 AM … why “showing off”? How else do you explain a two year old zooming through a full range of emotions like that in eight seconds, AND managing some competent Mexican dance steps?
